Love Your Customers
Seeing as February is the month of love, we felt this was perfectly fitting to talk about a special relationship we have. No, it’s not about talking to a crush (blog coming soon) it’s about the love we have for our customers, aka YOU! This is our guide on things you can do to make sure you have an awesome relationship with your customer.
- Communicate
Communication is key. Cliche, I know but it’s true. We’re not just talking about initial communication and immediate communication we’re talking about future communication too. So, if it’s been a while since one of your customers has bought your product or service and you haven’t heard from them in a while, why not drop them a message to see how they’re doing. Not only could this potentially result in them using you again but it shows that you care and you’re invested in them as your customer.
- Exceed expectations
This one goes without saying really, but where possible exceed their expectations. Trust me, it will not go unnoticed if you go that extra mile for someone. But make it subtle and effortless, even if it’s not. You want them to appreciate the extra effort but at the same time you need to come across like it’s no big deal. Also, don’t stop once they become a customer, you should take every opportunity to impress that you can take.
- Connect online
Want an easy way to keep up to date and in contact with your customers? Connect with them through the medium of social media. This will make it so much easier for you to contact them if needed, interact with them, see if they’re posting about you and gives you a chance to grow your digital network.
- Show appreciation
If you are lucky enough to get some free promotion from a customer in the form of a social post or review for instance, make sure you acknowledge that and show some appreciation. Not only does this show to your customer and others that you have a strong bond, but it shows that you care about your customers and you’re grateful.
- Personalise it
Making something personal to a customer only adds value to them, the product and the relationship between you both. Don’t just give everyone the same product/service if you can add a personal touch then do it! This can be something small like a personal thank you message to accompany or a product or a welcome email with something personal about them included in the email.
- Reward loyalty
A great way of retaining customers and showing them that they matter and are recognised is by rewarding their loyalty. Granted, this isn’t always easy but it doesn’t have to be anything big. Even offering them a discount for every 5th order they place or if you’re a service every 10th class is free. Small acts of your kindness will keep customers returning and giving them a reason only makes it easier for you to retain and harder for them to leave!
- Get feedback
So, you’ve tried and tested many things with your audience and they don’t seem to be working, nothing seems to be clicking. Wanna know why? You probably don’t know or understand your audience well enough. You need to get a deep understanding of what your customer is looking for and the expectation they have for you as a business. How do you find this info out? Simple, ask! Get feedback from customers by asking things like how was our service, our product, our experience? Finding out these things will give you a better picture of what you’re good at, what you’re not so good at and ultimately you’ll get a better understanding of who your customers are.
We hope this guide of 7 simple steps you can make going forward will help your business retain better customer relationships.
