A Guide To Success

Defining Success

Success can be attributed in many different forms depending on what you define as success. In this study, we are going to explore the different ideologies people have for success, how to achieve them, why it’s important to push yourself, what to do when things aren’t going your way and reaching a point of success.

Everybody has their own definition of success. For some it’s being rich, for some, it’s being the best, for some, it’s having a family and for some, it’s just being happy in life. Whatever your idea of success is, we believe you should always have that goal in mind, giving you something to aim for and achieve.

The Journey To Success

So, you have a goal or a dream of what you want to achieve but you don’t know where to begin. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Unfortunately, there isn’t a simple answer or solution to this problem, the only person that can achieve this success is YOU!

Figuring out exactly what it is you want to achieve is the first thing you should be doing. Now, this might sound obvious but people immediately jump into a plan of action without first figuring out what they are achieving or why they want to achieve it. Begin by assessing the place you’re at right now and set yourself a goal of what you want to achieve and when you want to achieve it by. Make the time frame realistic but don’t be too generous with yourself. Giving yourself more than enough time won’t motivate you to get something done, instead, you will carry on with how you’re going right now and won’t achieve that goal, or at the very least lose focus and passion to achieve it. So what we mean by a realistic time frame is not to get it done overnight because that isn’t realistic, but set a time where it is a fairly big ask, that way you know the deadline isn’t a million miles away and you will be more inclined to work towards it instead of away from it.

Now that you’ve got your goal and set the time frame in which you’re going to achieve it, this is now the time you can think about how you’re going to do it. Once you’ve figured out your plan of action this is the key time where you can either make it or break it within your timeframe. Push yourself. Get inspiration where you can and get help if you need it but the rest is down to you. The old saying rings true, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. Get out of your comfort zone, try things you’re sceptical about, test and measure everything. As long as you learn what helps you and what doesn’t help you on your road to success, you WILL get there!

Not Giving Up

You’ve set your goal, you’ve set your timeline and you’ve set your plan of action, but you’ve not achieved success. What now? This is a crucial stage that most people will face, so don’t think you’re alone. For a lot of people, failure only spurs them on, it gives them the motivation to get back on the horse to try and try again. But for others, it’s a huge blow to their confidence, their character and just generally deflates them. DON’T GIVE UP.

For many, this can seem like the end of the road, they’re a failure and they will never achieve their goals. It is important to remember, it is NEVER too late to achieve your goals. This could be the perfect time for you to again sit back down and re-assess your whole aim. Were you too harsh on your time frame? Were you too lenient and lost motivation to get it done? Was your aim too unrealistic? These are the things you need to think about and go again. Think about where you were the first time you did this, are you in a better place? Great, progress! If not, don’t worry. Figure out your goal, your time and your plan of action again, and never think of the first time around as a failure or a waste of time, think of it as a valuable lesson that you WILL learn from.

Reaching Success

You’ve done it. You’ve achieved what you set out to achieve and within the time frame. Whether you did it the first time round or not, YOU have done it. The feeling you will get from reaching your goals, by whatever means necessary will undoubtedly make you feel incredibly fulfilled, and rightly so. For some, reaching their success point is enough and they have achieved what they set out to achieve. For others, it only motivates them to achieve more and changes their definition of being successful, allowing them to create new goals and take new steps into continuing their success. Whichever person you are, your own personal successes are there for you to be proud of and inspire the next generation to do the same.
